Today I am filled with excitement, joy, hope, and a profound sense of pride. Last night was one of the most unforgettable nights of my life and I am overcome with emotion today as the news really soaks in. T has taken the day off from work to celebrate and we are basking in happiness. I look forward to posting more photos and stories soon.I would love to know your thoughts on this historic day! Please leave a comment to share.

This is an amazing day and I'm celebrating right along with you! ;)
ReplyDeleteI am moved to my core by our country's choice, by seeing a man of true vision at the helm of our nation, a leader to feel proud of. I am struck by how good it feels to see real love expressed right in front of us - the palpable love of Barack & Michelle for each other and for Sasha & Malia. I am thrilled that young people from all over the world will have this thoughtful, centered, intelligent & graceful man & his family as role models. I am powerfully grateful the kiddo will have til he's at least 5 years old (& hopefully 9 & beyond) to be able to look at a tv screen & not cringe at the President of the United States! Instead, he & we will see a beautiful man of color working for the betterment of our nation & the world. Barack Obama is a leader I will be proud to call my President. I can't say I've ever truly felt that before.
ReplyDeleteme too. it was amazing last night. just amazing.
ReplyDeleteI'm so mentally and emotionally exhausted I just want to sleep until January 20th.
ReplyDeleteThe historical significance of what our nation has done brings tears to my eyes. Last night's acceptance speech was so powerful; the gravity of what he and we had brought about seemed to have struck President Elect Obama to the core. Unlike every other acceptance speech I have ever seen, gone were the politicians smiles and the glib cliched lines, and in their place was honesty, grace and integrity.
ReplyDeleteI majored in history in college and always despaired that our time seemed to lack inspirational leaders such as Martin Luther King or Winston Churchill. But I can say today that we have found one for our era. And for that we are all so blessed.
My hope now is that the motivation and action that his campaign inspired in so many people continues as we work together to bring this nation to the heights we know it can acheive.
I think whoever won is who the Lord intended to win.. but I do think its weird how everyone is celebrating a president who hasnt even served a day in the white house yet... Im holding off my rejoicing for now.
ReplyDeleteI feel like a huge weight has been lifted. I'm excited and proud. I don't know if anyone can repair the unspeakable damage of the last eight years but I feel that, if anyone can, it is President Obama.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one still in shock? Maybe awe is a better word. I am moved, inspired, hopeful, thrilled. I cannot stop smiling and it's been days!
ReplyDeleteThe enormity of Barack Obama's win in the scope of our history as a country is almost too huge, too great for words. Every fiber of my being, of my soul, is soaked through with complete amazement, awe, jubilation, validation. It is an honor to call this man our President. The fact that my son will spend his first years under a Black president and see that as "normal" fills my heart with utter joy and hope. This changes everything, this validates ALL kids' dreams and aspirations, regardless of race or gender - this is a day that, I must admit, I didn't think I'd see this soon in my lifetime. America has grown in leaps and bounds.
