  1. silly me, i kept looking at this picture thinking 'she's posted this before. i really like it, but she must have forgotten that she's posted it before.' then my brain started to work and i realized that it's the same picture i have on my own fridge and look at everyday. : )

    random, i know, but i just wanted to share.

  3. I have to admit: the picture just strikes me as being a little odd. The baby looks...almost...like an adult. Is there a story behind this portrait? (I wonder).

  4. Does this necessarily mean that he was a breastfeeding supporter? Had women had the option of formula back then, would he have still chosen to paint this way, or would the baby have had a bottle stuck in his mouth?

    And to Stephanie, women hundreds of years ago nursed their children much longer than today's minimum of 6 months...so it was not unusual to see a child (as opposed to an infant) nursing at his mother's breast.
